I've had a lot of free time recently, so I decided to delve into some Korean web dramas. I was interested in some of these mostly because I wanted to see idols I'm a fan of act for the first time.
As an introduction to acting, many Korean idols will get cast into web dramas first to dip their toes into the field. Web dramas are usually pretty short and they're not super consequential because people will actively seek these dramas out online and watch them if they're interested (mostly fans..) instead of dramas on tv where people are "forced" to watch dramas when they turn on the tv.
Anywho, I was really interested to see Dara (2ne1) act so I decided to watch her web drama called "Dr. Ian".
This drama is about a psychologist and a girl who confront their romantic heartbreaks together and attempt to overcome the emotional and psychological obstacle. Since web dramas are so short, it's hard to portray details in the story and really get in-depth character development. Pacing the story is also a struggle. Nevertheless, Dr. Ian was enjoyable - the story wasn't portrayed too badly and Dara is absolutely adorable. I think she still has some awkwardness she has to work out, even though apparently she acted a lot when she was in the Philippines so she has some experience, but I think she'll do well as an actress. Kim Young Kwang was okay as usual.

This one is called "Girl of 0AM" or "Midnight Girl". I saw gifs of Nam Taehyun (Winner) in the drama on Tumblr and I wanted to see how he'd do in an official drama. This one's a fantasy drama about a girl who helps a boy realize and continue his dream of being a professional singer. Super fitting since Taehyun is a singer, afterall. This was a cute one, even though it definitely had some cheesy moments. Taehyun's acting is very natural and Seo Minji is bright and cheerful.

Lastly is one I'm kind of embarrassed to admit to watching: EXO Next Door xD
Okay, let's get it straight: you shouldn't watch this unless you're an EXO fan..... or unless you enjoy ridiculously cheesy and fangirl-y types of things. Although I wouldn't call myself an outright fan of EXO, I am familiar with the members and I do enjoy their music. I won't contribute monetarily in anyway to their merchandise, but I do think that EXO as a group is quite cool.
Anyway, so the drama is about the EXO members moving into a house, and living next door is an EXO fangirl, and an old friend of Chanyeol's. Chanyeol is honestly a bit awkward... and I would say D.O is too to a certain extent. But Sehun and Baekhyun are better than I would have imagined. Anyway this is still being released and I'll continue watching til the end :P
Alrighty~ that's all for now.
I really need to do a K-drama update, haha.
Cya next time!
Josie ♥
