{ K-pop } My Epik High Concert Experience

So a couple days ago, I went to my first official concert ever. I had the time of my life, it was absolutely amazing!

I was lucky enough to see Epik High at The Vogue Theatre during their encore show. The first show scheduled for May 31st sold out in less than a minute so they decided to add an encore concert on the next night. I'm so thankful for this otherwise I wouldn't have gotten the opportunity to see them perform.

We stood in the pit, on the left hand of the stage (facing the stage), so we were quite close. I was able to take some videos using my phone - of course they're not that great quality and they're also not all complete, but I wanted to record some footage so I could relive it through video afterwards, even if watching the video itself gives only like 1/1000 the feeling of actually being there xD.

the view from our spots

So I've been an Epik High fan since around 2009-ish, and the first song of theirs I ever listened to was "One". To this very day, it's still one of my favorite songs. I was soooo excited when they announced they would visit Vancouver on their tour and I almost died of anticipation waiting for the concert to start xD

it's Tukutz!!!!!

Tablo, Mithra Jin & DJ Tukutz (the quality is horrible, I know. I cringe as a photography enthusiast, but oh well~)

Here are some videos I took~

---

---

---

They got Tukutz to sing Big Bang's "Loser" xD It was hilarious! But man.. the way the crowd sang along to Loser... I really wish Big Bang would hold a concert here :(

---

---

This performance was seriously awesome, too. There were so many people singing/rapping along with the lyrics. It was magical +_+

---

---

One! Time is ticking, ti-time is ticking ticking. Time is ticking, ti-time is ticking away! Probably my favorite performance of that night, although Born Hater is a really strong contender!!

---

Their last "official" performance of the night was of Fan. Pretty fitting, right?

---

Here's the encore performance. Seriously when the beat drops at the beginning of the song... it was just plain awesome. I can't even begin to describe the feeling of actually witnessing that firsthand!

---

This was one of the most exhilarating experiences of my whole life. Epik High has some amazing stage presence, and combined with the excitement from the crowd, the synergy was just surreal and intoxicating. I wish I could go to another concert soon :(((

Oh! I also picked up a t-shirt and a snapback before the show!

There were two designs: "Epik High" and "Born Hater". I wanted to get both designs on each piece, but they ran out of merchandise the first night :( Oh well. I still wanted some awesome souvenirs to remember the night by.

Alrighty, that's all for now :) Hope you enjoyed.

{ K-pop } My Recent Playlist - BTS, Big Bang, Infinite, Kim Sunggyu, EXO, Niel (Teen Top) & EXID

Ahh~ I've wanted to post about some recent Kpop songs I've been loving for a while now, and I'm finally doing it! Yay!!!

Alrighty here we go, again in no particular order.

1. 방탄소년단 (BTS) - I Need U

I'm absolutely in love with this song. I've been listening to it soooo much ever since its release. Every single part of it is perfection, the rap verses, the bridges, the chorus omg THAT CHORUS! It's such an incredibly catchy song, I love blasting it in the car while I drive :P

Anyway if you haven't heard it, go take a listen to BTS' I Need U!!!

There's 2 other songs that I really like from their new album too!

방탄소년단 (BTS) -  잡아줘 (Hold Me Tight)

BTS does that angsty R&B genre verrrrry well (see Let Me Know from their last album). It always comes out really well and I think I just like this type of music a lot :p

 방탄소년단 (BTS) - Converse High

I love the vocal parts to this song, but I can't say the same for the rap parts. I think it may be Suga or J-Hope? Anyway it's the second rap verse, I feel like it's way too... rough, it doesn't sound good with the rest of the song. Unfortunate, but I still listen to it regardless.

2. Big Bang - Loser & Bae Bae

Big Bang is finally back!!!! They kicked off their 5-month long comeback schedules with Loser & Bae Bae. Both songs are super catchy and easy to listen to. When I first heard Loser via a fancam of their MADE concert before the official release, I already loved it and I found myself humming the song even though it wasn't officially released yet. Amazing. That's what Big Bang is. I can't wait to see what else they have for us until the release of their full album in September.

3. Infinite - 24 Hours

Yes, this is not a Korean song, it's Japanese. But Infinite's still a K-pop artist okay! Haha. Of course I love the new song released by Infinite - although I guess it's nothing super special, it's still very melodic and easy to listen to, which is why it's stayed on my playlist since its release.

4. Kim Sunggyu - 27 [Album]

Okay, I basically love his whole album, so 4/5 of the songs from his new album 27 have stayed on my playlist since its release.

a) Kim Sunggyu - 너여야만 해 (The Answer)

I adore the simplicity of this song - it allows Sunggyu's gorgeous vocals to shine. The melody is so beautiful and the lyrics, so meaningful. Definitely one of my favorite tracks off this album.

b) Kontrol

Yes, it's Kontrol with a 'K', not with a 'C' :P

This song is very Nell-ish, although given that Nell's Kim Jongwan was in charge of the album's production, that shouldn't be too surprising. The drop at the chorus gives me life to be honest :) The music video's aesthetic is extremely beautiful as well. It's rumoured that the story in this mv is dedicated to an Inspirit (Infinite's official fanclub) who died during the Sewol Ferry incident. There are several clues alluding to that very student. Although Sunggyu himself denied the mv being about the Inspirit student, I still believe that the mv was extremely carefully and purposefully constructed to tell this story. It's an unforgettable mv, please take a watch if you haven't already~

c) Alive

Another really simple but pretty song that allows Sunggyu's voice to shine, the piano is just so pleasant~ I love the sound of the piano ;~; The song starts off slow and quiet but builds up to the second half smoothly. Another song I adore from his album.

d) Daydream (Feat Borderline: Tablo & Kim Jongwan)

You have NO idea how excited I was when I saw that Tablo would be featuring on a track in this album. After what took place between Woollim and Tablo/Epik High a couple years back, I wondered if the Infinite boys would ever get a chance to interact or work with Epik High ever again. I guess since Kim Jongwan featured on Epik High's songs after they left Woollim and joined YG, it shows that Tablo is still close with them. Anyway, this song is fantastic. I love the rap featuring from Tablo and Kim Jongwan sneaks his voice in there at the very end. Even though I love this song, I kinda wish they left out the autotune on Sunggyu's voice. The song didn't really need that element in my opinion and I much prefer to just listen to Sunggyu's voice on its own. That's just my opinion though and I still love the song.

5. EXO - Call Me Baby

I dunno about being an EXO fan and all that, but what I do know is that EXO's quality and style of music is always enjoyable to me (okay, except for Wolf, lol). This song is no exception - catchy, upbeat, fun and extremely EXO-ish. EXO always finds a way into my playlists, haha.

6. Niel - 못된 여자 Lovekiller (feat. Dok2)

No, I'm not really a huge Teen Top fan or anything, but I have liked some of their music. I guess sometimes my music taste is really... basic? This song is honestly nothing special and it's very basic, but I just find it to be so catchy and easy to sing along to. Niel found his way into my playlist with his first solo endeavor, Lovekiller.

7. EXID - Every Night, Up & Down, Ah Yeah

Yup. These girls are still on my playlist! I have to admit I think I'm finally starting to get tired of their songs, but they definitely have some undeniable talent and some catchy songs.

That concludes my recent K-pop playlist~ Bye! ^^
